Am I covered for swine flu through my co-operative travel insurance?

Q:

Am I covered for swine flu through my co-operative travel insurance?

A:

Customers who use the National Pandemic Flu Service to obtain anti-flu medication and need to make a travel insurance cancellation claim should ensure that they keep the unique ID number given to them by the Service and the label from their medication, showing their name and date of issue, as insurers will need it these to validate the claim.

If customers are being medically screened at the airport and turned away from their flight by the airline, your travel insurance would cover you for cancellation costs provided there is written evidence from a medically qualified member of the screening team.

If flights are cancelled due to an outbreak in the country of destination then claims would need to be taken up with the airline in question.

Other than the above, swine flu claims would be treated as any other illness-related claim; there is no more and no less cover for this particular illness and the same policy terms and conditions apply.
